I don’t love dentists. I might like a dental professional in a social setting- but reclining under adjustable interrogation lights while staring at the arsenal of sharp weapons instruments makes me hyperventilate.
I don’t know when the terror started. Maybe it was the day:
– I bit the hand of “Dr Teddy”- the child psychiatrist dentist for difficult kids.
– I got to have a grown up adult (I-have-grandkids-for-crying- out- loud) wisdom tooth pulled.
– the dental hygienist made a complimentary second lap around my gums with her pick ax,
– an x-ray showed a tiny piece of a metal dental instrument lodged in the root of a tooth. And heard, “I was able to get most of it,” from a second dental specialist going in for the recapture.
– I had root canal surgery. Yesterday. There are stitches across my gum, and right now my top lip looks like a Housewife of Beverly Hills.

Actually I’m feeling seriously thankful right now-
1) that I’m not in any pain!
2) for phenomenal friends and family who have been praying. You know who you are, and I love you!
3) for my dear friend, Sherry- the designated driver, who not only waited patiently thru the procedure, but promised social media/ paparazzi lock down while I vacationed in my halcyon-induced happy place.
4) for my beloved, Paul – who’s about to serve up some yummy chicken noodle soup.
That’s it. Just wanted to say thanks. And Happy 2016.
What or who are you thankful for today?!!
