What’s the first thing you do when you get potentially scary news?
Freak out? Run to the internet and peruse every worst possible case scenario? Jump to terrifying conclusions? Drink a shot of tequila and take up smoking? As a last resort, pray?
Our friend Gresham has a cool outlook on life. When unexpected, unwanted or potentially scary news comes, Gresham’s default response is, “let’s light it up.” For those who don’t know Gresham, lighting something up means he’s about to pray about it- right now. It doesn’t matter if you’re at a dinner party or in a crowded parking lot. Gresham is about to break into some serious prayer for you.
He doesn’t make promises to pray for you at some point in the future. He lights it up right now-before the conversation ends. Apparently Gresham believes that if your situation is important enough to discuss, it’s important enough to take to the Lord
Is there something causing you to panic right now, imagining all the worst case ‘what-ifs’ that could happen? Here’s the challenge, actually to myself… and to anyone else who might be feeling overwhelmed with worry.
Before you lose another moment of sleep would you light it up? Thanks, Gresham for showing us how it’s done.
