Do you have a special place for preserving tangible reminders of someone you’ve loved and lost?
A memory box is a beautiful way to keep and revisit happy memories of a life that’s much too important to be forgotten.
You might want to include;
* a special fragrance or aftershave,
* meaningful clothing items
* music or a video
* a journal for writing stories
* a cozy blanket
* whatever you love that reminds you of your loved one.
Grief is tough for all of us, but particularly difficult for children. Providing a small suitcase full of photos, favorite books or other sweet treasures can be a great conversation starter for a child who isn’t able to express what’s going on in their heart. Encourage the child to draw pictures, re-watch a memorable video or collect other reminders to help celebrate the person they’re missing. Katie the Ladybug is an excellent book for kids and their families.
If you created a memory box, what would you include in it? Please share your ideas on our Grief Survivor Facebook page!
