Good morning from Alesund, Norway. So, most of our vacations are a lot less spectacular than this one… but in honor of our 35th Anniversary we decided to go big or go home. I’m feeling extra thankful right now for my beloved – for marrying me a really long time ago (when I was three years old). He is a seriously brave man.
Last week, as we frantically scrambled to tie up work, family and life loose ends at home, I ended in the throes of a massive panic attack one night. If you’ve ever experienced the fabulous phenomenon of sweaty palms, a racing heart and shivering chills all at the same time, you understand it’s no joke.
The next day, on my birthday for crying out loud- a stress test, EKG and echo cardiogram determined, thankfully that my heart is fine. It’s my crazy life that is jacked up. So my goal during the twelve day Norwegian trip is to slow the heck down.
A few things I’m learning along the Scandinavian way:
– Just because a fjord is in front of you doesn’t mean you have to conquer it. Taking the Funicular can be as awesome as hiking.
– Wandering through the Nordic festival is a perfectly good goal.
– Taking time to hear about life in India from Joseph, a friendly crew member- this morning in the Windjammer Cafe on board our ship made my heart happy.
– 64 degrees in August is perfection.
That’s it. Hope it’s a beautiful day where you are and you’re taking time to breathe in the goodness all around you.
I came across this precious t shirt today, reminding me to stress less, and
God’s peace, Beth
